ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The government of Newfoundland and Labrador has a five-pronged plan to see “upwards of 500 new housing options added to the market.”

For lower-to-moderate-income would-be homeowners who have already qualified for a mortgage, a new assistance program will shore them up with the required downpayment and up to $1,500 to assist with closing costs, matching the fed’s first-time home buyer’s credit.
