Ecology Action Centre calls for immediate implementation of Coastal Protection Act | SaltWireST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The Newfoundland and Labrador government has earmarked $50,000 for a local non-profit organization's food network project to boost local food production.

Through the Provincial Food Network project, Food Producers Forum is partnering with community members across the province to build a more direct system of food production, distribution and education. Its goals include restoring small family farms, creating regional food hubs and offering workshops to rebuild food skills.

"As we move toward food security, community health and economic resilience, we are lucky to have funding from four sources," said Dan Rubin, Food Producers Forum project co-ordinator. "This final piece from IET will be critical to the work we are doing because 90 per cent of those funds will be disbursed directly to community sites in Newfoundland and Labrador, to help develop the missing infrastructure they need to support local, healthy food."The Mercy Centre for Ecology and Justice;King's Point Community Garden;
