Stan Rogers Folk Festival 2024: 27 years of music and community | SaltWire #festival #music #nsOver a dozen of this province’s top young athletes were recognized for their work last year at the Sport Newfoundland and Labrador 33rd annual scholarship reception.
On May 29, Sport NL gave 15 scholarships to athletes from across the province enrolled in a post-secondary institution, which will help offset the costs of training and competition. Weeks was awarded the Frank T. Butler Scholarship, which comes at a value of $1,500 and is named after the late Sport NL Hall of Fame member who volunteered on several Sport Newfoundland and Labrador Committees.
Weeks had a great 2023 season. Not only did he compete with the Canadian junior national swim team at the World Junior Aquatic Championships in Israel, but he also set the national record in the 50-metre butterfly. The other 14 athletes were awarded scholarships that are worth $750.
