The Penns Grove resident recently finished in the top 20 at a national mullet competition.

Eric Kormann, 41, of Penns Grove competed in the USA Mullet Championship and made the top 25.When it comes to hair for Eric Kormann, it’s all about business in the front, party in the back; better known as the mullet.

The USA Mullet Championships began with an adult competition in 2020 as a marketing idea for Bridge Street Exchange, a men’s shop owned by USA Mullet Championships President Kevin Begola. After local success in Michigan, the contest expanded its scope to a national event, including a kid’s contest., a non-profit organization that provides personalized care for veterans in need.“It was fun to be apart of,” Kormann told NJ Advance Media Tuesday.

“I started early 2020 we were up at a race in New York and one of the girls was a hairdresser and cut it for me,” he said. “I really just did it to annoy my wife who was very anti-mullet but then as it grew out it actually had a nice shape and people kept telling me it looked good. So then I needed to perfect it!”“I just made the deadline...and we entered the day before they stopped taking entries,” Kormann said.
