Two women from New Jersey were also injured, according to Maryland State Police.
A 64-year-old New Jersey man was killed and his two passengers were injured Thursday when their vehicle was hit head-on by another SUV on Interstate 95 in Maryland, authorities said.
John Mastropietro, of Oceanport, died of his injures at an area hospital following the 6 p.m. crash near mile marker 77.2 in Abingdon, Maryland State Police said. The driver of the SUV that hit Mastropietro’s vehicle — Dennis English, Jr., 45, of Baltimore — was also killed. English was speeding when he lost control of his SUV, crossed over two lanes and overturned across the guardrail before striking Mastropietro’s vehicle, which was also traveling north, Maryland State Police said.
Mastropietro’s passengers, a 26-year-old woman and a 60-year-old woman who both live in Oceanport, were hospitalized with injuries.
