Oak Bay police say a teen’s car was impounded for seven days after he was spotted driving nearly 100 km/h in a 40 km/h zone.

Oak Bay police say an officer was manning a traffic stop when they spotted a vehicle with a severely damaged windshield.Sign up for the CHEK Now daily email newsletter to get breaking news and the day's top stories sent to your email.Police say the damage was so extensive that it “impaired the driver’s ability to see out.”Meanwhile, police learned that the driver was unlicenced, and she was handed a $276 fine for driving without a licence.

“Oak Bay police remind vehicle owners and operators to ensure any spiderweb or cracked windshields do not impede the driver’s vision, or the vehicle may be subject to inspection and tow at the owner’s expense,” said the police department
