Myles Sanderson, accused in Saskatchewan stabbing deaths, not located, remains at large: RCMP.

JAMES SMITH CREE NATION, SASK.—Myles Sanderson, the lone suspect left alive and on the run after a stabbing rampage left 11 dead, is not in James Smith Cree Nation in Saskatchewan RCMP said Tuesday afternoon, three hours after a possible sighting triggered a lockdown of the community.

RCMP cruisers had been seen Tuesday driving down the gravel road at an entrance to the reserve as news media — who have mostly been asked to stay outside of the community itself — lingered outside. Roughly a kilometre from the band office, police had set up a small barricade with an unmarked car where officers checked the trucks of anyone coming or going.

While the manhunt continues, more information has surfaced on what police describe as a violent history. A parole document in particular shed light on Sanderson’s criminal record , describing the way in which regular use of drugs and hard alcohol would make him “lose mind” and get angry. “There were very violent incidents that happened in northern Saskatchewan. However, since then, no more violence has occurred,” he said.

What was initially a search for two suspects was winnowed down to one on Monday when RCMP revealed that Myles Sanderson’s brother, Damien Sanderson, had been found dead in the James Smith Cree Nation earlier that day.
