Myles Brooks is hoping to make his comeback playing for the Dallas Cowboys.
PUBLISHED 4:27 PM CDT Jul. 21, 2023AUSTIN, Texas — Myles Brooks was riding high after his junior year of high school football. He had just helped Pflugerville Hendrickson reach the 4th round of the playoffs and was getting attention from some of the top colleges across the country. Brooks would commit to Arkansas and he was all set for the final year of his high school career.
“When I came to Stephen F. Austin I was a knucklehead,” says Brooks. “Being a 4-star commit out of high school I was like, ‘I do not belong here, I don’t want to be here.’ So I came in and had to kind of humble myself. I didn’t really play as much as a freshman, even though I was really the best on the team. My coach was like you’re not going to come here and change the culture, you’re going to join into the culture.
“Kind of hurt me, coming in I had a third or fourth round grade,” Brooks says. “I didn’t take pre-draft as serious as I should have. I went to the combine with a bum hamstring and wasn’t able to do nothing. At my pro day I didn’t do my best, so it landed me undrafted.” “Mom a big fan, dad a big fan, so that star is everything to us,” says Brooks. “We got the call from Jerry . My mom cried in tears. She was like our dream team and a chance at the NFL, can’t beat it.”
