INTERVIEW | My London: Nina Hopkins – Fashion Designer FreeFromFur
It was while designing outerwear for some of the nation’s favourite high street fashion multiples that Nina Hopkins struck on the idea of creating directional faux fur jackets and coats.in 2015, Nina’s ambition was to create an ethically-minded collection which balanced trend-led style with a heavy dose of fun, all priced affordably enough to let fashion-forward women buy confidently into ethical fashion.
The London based brand has been awarded a number of prestigious PETA Fashion Awards, including: Best Wool-Free Collection award for its knitwear range in 2018 plus Best Faux Fur Brand in 2017. Nina single-handedly launched Jakke and remains at the helm. Her days are very varied involving design work, communicating with factory teams, out at meetings with stockists, booking models, planning shows or travelling for inspiration. She cycles around London to keep fit and spends the rest of her time with her son and walking the dog outside of work.Hackney wick, there are lots of cool places and restaurants to explore. It’s buzzing on the weekend.
