Elon Musk must explain by March 11 why he should not be held in contempt, U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan ordered on Feb. 26. The Securities and Exchange Commission had requested such a move the previous evening.
The Tesla chief executive posted a tweet about the electric-car maker’s production levels on Feb. 19, which the SEC argues violates an agreement struck last year. Also on Feb. 26, Musk tweeted that “omething is broken with SEC oversight,” a day after saying it was “embarrassing” for the SEC to go after him for his Feb. 19 tweet.
