Refusing to subsidize bus travel mostly used by the poor, but eagerly subsidizing air travel to the U.S. for the business class or holidaying rich obviously isn’t a great look.Article contentBut this really isn’t about subsidizing a money-losing investment. Surely, everyone can see that there’s a certain high demand in Saskatchewan to fly to the U.S.
And most recognize about the only way to break that cycle is through some kind of incentive by government. To be clear, this $2.2-million subsidy is a guarantee from the province that taxpayers will recoup if the route is profitable.
