An ex-convict has been charged with murder and other crimes in the June 3 fatal shooting of a man who was riding in a car with some other people when he was shot in East Oakland.
OAKLAND — Murder and other charges have been filed against a convicted felon suspected in the fatal shooting of a San Lorenzo man that took place June 3 in East Oakland as the victim and others were riding in a car, according to authorities and court records.
Roy Kellum, 30, of Oakland, was charged with murder, premeditated attempted murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle, being a felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of possession of ammunition by a prohibited person. Authorities said Kellum allegedly had gotten into an argument earlier with Hernandez and one of the other men at another location and began following their vehicle before opening fire on them from his vehicle.Oakland homicide investigator Mike Jaeger said in court records that video evidence and witness statements led to Kellum being identified as the suspect.
