The Hill Times
It's barely two weeks into the fall sitting, and Parliament has already been a roller-coaster. While MPs and Senators may have come back from the summer break expecting political throw downs from their colleagues, they have also had to deal with jeering from outside of the Chambers and committee rooms on the Hill. Of course, this isn’t new.
While many praised Singh for standing up to bullies, there are plenty of people who don’t have the knowledge they could physically best someone—like Singh can with his years of martial arts training—to confidently cross the street. The Parliamentary Precinct shouldn’t be a totally sanitized area, and people are allowed to protest. Politicians aren’t exempt from critique, or being made to feel uncomfortable sometimes for their ideological stances or policy decisions. But this isn't that.
