The MPP for Algoma-Manitoulin has been removed while a third-party investigation takes place.
Veteran MPP Michael Mantha has been ejected from the New Democratic caucus for alleged personal “misconduct” involving a colleague.
NDP Leader Marit Stiles announced Saturday that Mantha, the representative for Algoma-Manitoulin, was being turfed. “I have removed Michael Mantha from the Ontario NDP caucus while an independent third party investigation into alleged workplace misconduct takes place,” Stiles said in a statement. “In order to protect the privacy of the complainant and allow the investigation to run its course, I cannot share further details at this time,” she saidSources, speaking confidentially in order to discuss internal deliberations, said the NDP received the complaint last December and that Stiles only learned about it upon becoming leader in February.
Mantha did not return calls, texts and direct messages left by the Star on his personal phone and at his office.
