Once again, one of Ontario’s biggest resorts just keeps on getting bigger and better.
I asked Huter, why this monster lift? “We want to continue as industry leaders. We need this new chair for a variety of reasons, but two of the most important are capacity and safety,” he said. “The safety bar will be automated, only lifting when you reach the top, so it is extra safe for little kids and riders. Plus, we need to move people quicker as the resort becomes busier and busier each season.
“We need to plan for the future to accommodate the incredible surge in skier/boarder interest from new Canadians who are enjoying this wonderful winter sport, thanks in part to COVID,” Huter said. “Our future plans for Moonstone are adding more beginner hills and a centre for all new comers to feel welcome.
Huter’s family is from Austria and he said, “when the Austrians build something they do it once, do it right and that’s exactly what we’re going to do here.” Andre oversees Mount St. Louis Moonstone’s multi-million-dollar, automated snowmaking operation, which is often touted as best in the industry with the most consistent snow conditions in any weather. Between the new lift and snow making capabilities, Mount St. Louis/Moonstone continues to set the bar higher and higher each season.Article contentI’ve been skiing and boasting about Mount St. Louis Moonstone for a number of decades.
