Earlier this week, Austin Pets Alive! stepped in to help a woman after her dog was allegedly killed by her landlord.
According to the shelter, the woman initially reached out because her litter of 5-month-old puppies was showing potential signs of parvovirus. The situation quickly got worse as her landlord started to threaten the woman and her family of nine dogs.ALSO |The woman reportedly found refuge at a nearby safe house. Once she felt physically safe, she continued searching for help for the seven puppies and their father.
“A PASS volunteer stepped forward without blinking an eye, offering to rescue the woman and her dogs and transport them to Austin Pets Alive!,” APA! said. “And then assisted the woman with support to relocate to safety.” The kennels are full, and eight dogs are not cheap to care for, the shelter said. Staff now need the community’s help.
