Morse running backs Damarion Wright and Omar-Logan Ramirez combined to rush for 336 yards and scored five of their team's touchdowns
The Morse Tigers erased an early 14-point deficit to the host El Capitan Vaqueros by halftime, then scored the last 22 points of the game to claim a 52-28 San Diego CIF Division III first-round playoff road win on Friday night.
The Vaqueros used just three plays on their next possession to reach the end zone, as junior Julian May had a 7-yard score to give El Cap a 14-0 lead nine minutes into the contest. " started out really well,” Morse head coach Tracy McNair said. “We had to stick to what we were going to do and that was run the ball. Once we found our groove, we were able to capitalize on some of El Cap’s mistakes to make some big plays. If our guys block like they did tonight, any of our guys can carry the ball.”
The Vaqueros appeared to quickly regain the momentum when they went 49 yards in just four plays, scoring on a 22-yard pass from Barker to May with 3:45 left in the third quarter, closing the gap once again to two points at 30-28.
