European Union leaders would strike a deal on a recovery fund for the bloc’s pandemic-ravaged economy on Monday, but the region’s stock markets turned cautious as talks paused. Around 6 a.m.ET, Britain’s FTSE 100 slid 0.27 per cent. Germany’s DAX added 0.62 per cent. France’s CAC 40 gained 0.23 per cent. In Asia, the Shanghai Composite Index jumped 3.11 per cent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng slid 0.12 per cent. New York futures were mixed. The Canadian dollar was trading 73.69 US cents.
