More than 155,000 federal public servants on strike as of Wednesday
The main issue both groups have been looking to negotiate were wages, with Aylward noting that, as of Monday, the government’s made several wage offers that were higher than the previous offer of 2.06 per cent annually, though none of the offers match inflation.
In its wage proposals, PSAC called for CRA members to receive annual wage increases of 4.5 per cent, followed eight per cent and eight per cent again during a three-year contract as well as a one-time wage adjustment of nine per cent to account for a long-standing wage imbalance with Canada Border Services Agency employees.
For Treasury Board members, PSAC’s request is for a 13.5 per cent increase over three years , with the union stating that the rate of inflation for the same period would be of 13.8 per cent.
