reports that a wrongful death lawsuit filed by her mother claims that Taylor was killed after officers forced their way into her home and exchanged shots with her boyfriend Kenneth Walker on March 13. The Louisville Metro Police Department has said they were conducting a search warrant in a narcotics investigation, and that the officers — identified as Sgt.
. An arrest warrant obtained by the outlet said police executed a "no-knock entry" to the apartment "due to the nature of how these drug traffickers operate.", says police entered the home and "proceeded to spray gunfire into the residence with a total disregard for the value of human life.
"Breonna Taylor was an award-winning EMT and model citizen," the Change.org petition reads. "She loved her family and community. She worked at two hospitals as an essential worker during the pandemic." The petition is calling for arrests of the officers involved, for charges to be filed against them, and for her family to be paid in damages for wrongful death, as well as for Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear to speak up on behalf of Taylor and to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Louisville Police Department. It's been signed by celebrities like Anna Paquin, Eve, and politicians like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
