The co-creator of Wednesday reveals that the show could explore much more of the Addams Family in a potential season 2. Season 1 of the series, which follows Wednesday Addams to the Nevermore Academy where she attempts to use her burgeoning psychic powers to help stop a series of murders, launched on Netflix on November 23. She is the central character, though several episodes feature other members of her iconic family, including her mother Morticia , her father Gomez , and her Uncle Fester .
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY TVLine recently sat down with Wednesday co-creator Al Gough to discuss the future of the Addams Family spinoff series. He revealed that their plan, if they were to get to season 2, would be to include the family just as much as they did this season.
We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles. Catherine is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important. [We] definitely want to feature the family as we did this season in a couple of episodes if we were to get a second season.
So far, the first-week streaming numbers have not been released for Wednesday, though it is expected to take the #1 slot for English language TV series. Regardless, the series is performing decently on review aggregator sites like Rotten Tomatoes, where it has 71%, and Metacritic, where it has a 7.3 user score. Considering this, all signs are pointing toward yes on the possibility of a Wednesday renewal.
What Wednesday Season 1's Ending Means For Season 2 Should Wednesday season 2 get the green light, it has a lot of ground to cover. She may have defeated her first major villain, but there are still plenty of loose ends to tie up, especially now that somebody is sending her stalker messages.
