The Mooseheads' playoff run ended without a single win after the Bathurst Titan completed a first-round sweep Wednesday night in Bathurst. Their 3-2 win in Game 4 of the best-of-seven sealed the series victory and left the Mooseheads stunned by the upset. They finished the season 25 points ahead of the Titan in the overall standings but couldn't outplay them in a single area of the game all series.
"All the pressure was on us and they played more freely than we did. I thought our guys gripped it. We'd get chances and miss the net or hit the crossbar. And their goalie made some incredible saves."After giving up the opening goal in the first three games, the Mooseheads broke the ice in Game 4 for their first lead of the series. But the momentum was short-lived as the Titan responded with three straight goals, including two while killing penalties.
"They did a good job of clogging up the middle on us and their D zone coverage, they collapsed right down to their net so you have to give them credit. They adjusted well to us so hats off to them."
