Matt Dusk sings Sinatra in Halifax/PEI/Moncton | SaltWireOn Sept. 29, the Halifax Mooseheads named him team capain. Then on Oct. 5, the San Jose Sharks signed him to a three-year, entry level contract. It was all a well-deserved payoff for a player who is universally respected in the dressing room for his honest, no-nonsense approach to the game.
The Hammonds Plains native finished with a respectable 10 points in 37 games during his 16-year-old season and then more than quadrupled that total to 42 points in 67 games as a sophomore. "It's definitely nice knowing they have faith in me," Furlong said."I thought I did well in camp and obviously they felt the same so I'm just happy it worked out."
"It was good," Furlong said."I wasn't going in as wide-eyed so I wasn't as nervous. It was more familiar and I knew a lot more guys and I knew a lot more about the staff so everything was a lot more comfortable this year." "It means a lot, especially being from here," Furlong said."I've had so many good captains in the past so it's a huge honour.
