The Montreal Victoire defeated the Minnesota Frost 4-2 in a hard-fought game. Abby Boreen scored twice for the Victoire, while Marie-Philip Poulin and Claire Dalton also contributed to the victory.

LAVAL, Quebec (AP) — Abby Boreen 's two goals paced the Montreal Victoire to a 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Frost on Friday night. Claire Dalton and captain Marie-Philip Poulin, capitalizing on a five-on-three power play, also found the back of the net for Montreal, which was playing its first home game since Dec. 30. Kendall Coyne Schofield and Claire Thompson scored for the Frost, who endured their first regulation loss on the road this season.

Minnesota had secured three consecutive road victories prior to their 3-2 shootout loss to the New York Sirens on Wednesday. The win propelled Montreal to within one point of Minnesota for first place in the PWHL standings, with the Victoire holding two games in hand. The Frost had defeated the Victoire 4-2 on Sunday in Denver as part of the PWHL's Takeover Tour. The Victoire were without forward Laura Stacey, who is listed as day-to-day after sustaining an injury last weekend. The Victoire accomplished a feat for the first time since November 30, netting two power-play goals in a single game. Boreen, stepping into top-line minutes in Stacey's absence, received a cross-ice pass from linemate Jennifer Gardiner to open the scoring for Montreal roughly eight minutes into the first period. Poulin has consistently contributed offensively, registering at least one point in all three games she has faced against Minnesota this season. She has recorded three goals and three assists during a four-game point streak against the Frost dating back to last season, marking her longest such stretch against any opponent in her PWHL career. The Frost will host the Charge on Tuesday.
