The Montreal Roses have announced the signing of Canadian international forward Latifah Abdu to a contract. Abdu, a 23-year-old from Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, returns to Montreal after spending four years playing in France. She previously played for several clubs in both the top and second divisions of French football.
The Northern Super League team announced the deal Tuesday.
“Joining a new project, at home, is an exceptional opportunity both in terms of sports and on a personal level,” Abdu said in a statement. “My short-term goal is to continue my progress on the pitch and give my all to my city and to the Montréal Roses club.” “Latifah embodies unshakable determination, remarkable speed, and immense potential. At the very beginning of the project, I met a committed player who believed in the team long before anything took shape,” said Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director. “Her speed, her precise centring, and her ability to create opportunities on the pitch will make all the difference.
She returned to the PSLQ briefly in 2021 with CS Mont-Royal Outremont in 2021, winning the league’s gold boot award as top scorer.
