Construction work gets underway at Fulford Harbour Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2022.

Upgrades start Tuesday at BC Ferries’ Salt Spring Island terminal as crews work to replace a foot passenger walkway and an operator cab on the ramp. The work at Fulford Harbour begins on Sept. 6 and will continue on weekdays until Oct. 7, according to BC Ferries in a news release. The company says temporary changes to the loading and unloading of foot passengers to and from its vessel will be in place during construction. It asks these passengers to follow signage and direction from staff.

Night work will also occur over four nights on Sept. 13, 14, 21 and 22 to ensure there is no impact on operations, BC Ferries says, noting crews will work to minimize noise between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.Sign up for our newsletter to get breaking news and daily digests sent to your email.“BC Ferries would like to thank customers and neighbours for their understanding as we complete the necessary work,” the company added.
