District 7 Councilman Andrew Szymanski is disappointed after Mayor Steven Reed vetoed a zoning ordinance that would have allowed a housing development on Carter Hill Rd.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -A few weeks ago, it seemed that the south side of Montgomery’s Carter Hill Road would be home to a new $3.8 million dollar housing development.

“There’s a place for it in the area, it’s just not in Carter Hill Road in my opinion,” Reed said to the council. “We would be very, very willing to look to work with you at any city-owned property that we have to partner with you in this endeavor,” Reed continued. “They wanted to develop a 48-unit multi-family property that was going to be for students and really bring a lot of activity to Carter Hill Road,” Szymanski explained.
