And swell from dying Hurricane Frank will produce waves up to 7 feet on Tuesday
San Diego isn’t a tropical city but it felt like one Sunday due to monsoonal moisture. And conditions will be just as clammy on Monday, says the National Weather Service.
“We say things feel tropical when the dew point gets to 70, and it hit 72 in some places today,” said Dan Gregoria, a weather service forecaster. “This won’t end until drier air arrives on Tuesday.”, “The higher the dew point rises, the greater the amount of moisture in the air. This directly affects how ‘comfortable’ it will feel outside.”
Forecasters also noted that Hurricane Frank, which was losing strength on Sunday night about 800 miles south-southwest of San Diego, has generated a swell that will produce 4 foot to 6 foot waves on Tuesday, with sets to 7 feet, at some beaches that face south or southwest west. The swell also will generate dangerous rip currents.
