MONCTON, N.B. — A 40-year-old Moncton, N.B. man is facing charges after a police officer was charged at with a weapon in the early morning hours of Sept.
Codiac Regional RCMP were on patrol on Main Street in the community around 5:40 a.m. when officers noticed a suspicious looking man in front of the police station.
Mounties attempted to approach the man; however, police say the man then charged at the officer with a crowbar. The man then allegedly smashed the police vehicle with the crowbar before several Mounties came and de-escalated the situation and arresting the man.Paul Fairweather appeared in Moncton provincial court on Sept. 24 and was charged with assaulting a police officer with a weapon and mischief to property under $5,000.The investigation is ongoing.
