Jake’s mom is speaking about the danger of fentanyl two years after her son died of an accidental overdose. The Texas linebacker and younger brother of former Longhorn quarterback Sam Ehlinger died after taking what he thought was a Xanax pill, but it turned out to contain the deadly opiate fentanyl.Stefanie Turner has a lot in common with Jena Ehlinger.“That is the real life of fentanyl. That is what it looks like.
“I just felt that if Jake’s story could be heard it could really raise more awareness and it has. That video has had so much traction, and I am just grateful to her for being so vulnerable and brave,” said Turner.For his mom, it is a chance for Jake to keep doing good and helping others even after his death.
“One of our biggest fears is that people will forget our child. You just want them to say their name, just continue to say their name,” said Ehlinger.
