The gregarious, pipe-smoking editor worked at the San Antonio Light and then the Express-News for a total of nearly 30 years.
Arthur Moczygemba, a longtime editor at the San Antonio Express-News, was a mentor to young journalists and a font of countless anecdotes from bygone days when the city had two major daily newspapers.
He was sent off with a celebration, a new watch, season passes to SeaWorld and other gifts, but some considered Moczygemba’s departure a sad day, the end of an era for local print journalism. Journalists observed the news of Moczygemba’s passing on the San Antonio Express-News Alumni Facebook page with memories of the Poth High School graduate who was proud of his Polish heritage and Wilson County upbringing.
