The NFL draft is right around the corner, a little more than a month away. In a blockbuster trade with the Carolina Panthers, the Bears sent the No. 1 overall pick to Carolina in exchange for a package of draft picks and receiver DJ Moore.
Poles told NBC's Peter King that the idea of trading down twice, once with Houston at No. 2 and again with Carolina at No. 9, intrigued him because in such a scenario he could wind up with three first-round picks in 2024. Even at No. 9, that's still on the table. If there's a team looking to move up from the late teens or early 20s into the top 10, that could cost a first-round pick next year.
As of right now, however, the Bears will pick ninth. So what will they do with that pick? Johnson played both tackle spots and right guard for the Buckeyes, and he already has blocked for quarterback Justin Fields. Chicago needs to keep supporting Fields and get him a stellar lineman with this pick.
