Mayor Stimpson emphasized his administration’s commitment to upholding the protections of religious liberty guaranteed in the U.S.

Their positions, the administration said, was to ensure that leaders throughout Mobile had an LGBTQ+ perspective on city policies and procedures. “We, as pastors, don’t want to speak for the mayor policy wise or prognosticate what may or may not be coming,” he said. “Our main task is to care for the people of God. But in the general environment we live in, we wanted to make sure we voiced our opinion on the issue in case such a thing ever comes across the agenda so the mayor knows who his friends are and to give opinion and counsel on the matter.
