“I do think that there’s real momentum in Las Vegas in terms of trying to get something done,” Manfred said Monday. “I think that the various attempts in the Bay Area, they were derailed for different reasons. San Jose was a territorial issue. Howard Terminal, it just never came to fruition.
“ really committed to trying to get a deal done at Howard Terminal that had real benefits for the city of Oakland in terms of redevelopment. And Fisher’s commitment was to privately finance the stadium. Infrastructure was the only issue that the city understood it needed to undertake but never quite found the money to do it.”
The A’s would also need to have their relocation to Las Vegas approved by MLB owners with a 75% approval vote.
