Former New York Yankees manager Buck Showalter is assembling his coaching staff on the New York Mets.
For Bailey, the Mets represented a chance to reunite with Eppler, who as Angels’ GM gave Bailey his first coaching job in 2018. A return to the East Coast also might have been enticing.
Bailey grew up in South Jersey and attended Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y.The Giants then hired Bailey as their pitching coach ahead of the 2020 season. He led San Francisco’s staff to a 3.25 ERA in 2021 en route to a 107-win season and an NL West title.
