"It will increase comfort, increase quality of life, help create resilient communities. You know, it really makes a difference when you have a very warm, safe place to live," Comer said. Changing to a heat pump would mean an increase in her electricity costs and she's not sure how this would be implemented or how much it would increase her monthly budget.

Susan Hudson lived in public housing units in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality for over 30 years of her life. The announced energy efficient upgrades sound like a positive to Hudson, however, she thinks investing in maintenance budgets and staff is just as important.
