Mississippi governor declares state of emergency with river expected to crest at 36 feet
Severe storms hit Mississippi on Wednesday, with catastrophic floods washing out roads and causing a train derailment.The National Weather Service declared a flash flood emergency in the areas of Jackson and Brandon on Wednesday.Mayor Butch Lee said it appeared a storm drain washed out part of the tracks during a flood in Mississippi.Bryan Bailey shared a video to Facebook that shows rescuers evacuating several toddlers, some who can be heard crying, from their flooded day care.
"I am so proud of the men and women of the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office," Bailey wrote alongside the video."During disasters like today's flooding, all sheriffs department employees come together as a team and do whatever has to be done to help the people."
