Christian Dube, a 64-year-old man with dementia who went missing from his care home in Saanich, was found dead after an extensive search. Dube had escaped from the Veterans Memorial Lodge and was last seen in the PKOLS/Mount Douglas Park area.
A 64-year-old man with dementia, Christian Dube, who went missing from his care home in Saanich , was found dead on Saturday. Dube had been missing for a week after leaving the Veterans Memorial Lodge, where he had lived for about five months. He left the dementia ward in slippers and managed to pass through two locked doors, past the reception area and out the front door.
An extensive search was conducted in the PKOLS/Mount Douglas Park area, and family members continued searching even after the formal search ended on Nov. 28. Dube’s death is a heartbreaking loss for the community, and Broadmead Care is offering grief counseling and support. An investigation into the circumstances is ongoing
