Alejandro Guido scored the Loyal's lone goal
That was the story for the SD Loyal Sunday afternoon at Torero Stadium.
“Tough game,” Guido said. “We knew they could be dangerous on the counterattack and we worked on that all week but they caught us a couple of times and that was the difference. We did a lot of good things, probably good enough to win most games. Just not today.
The Loyal continued to apply pressure, but Jennings, who scored twice against the Loyal last season, slipped behind San Diego defender Kyle Adams and then beat the diving Guerrero for his fifth goal of the season. “We played well to be honest,” Donovan said. “We didn’t defend well in two moments, that was frustrating and you have to give them credit. They defended well there at the end, especially their goalkeeper. I don’t have a lot of issues with our performance.”
