The Minnesota Wild have brought in two depth forwards, signing Vinni Lettieri to a two-year contract with a $775,000 cap hit, while Jacob Lucchini comes in at the same cap hit on a one-year deal.
Lettieri, 28, was an unrestricted free agent after the conclusion of his one-year, $750,000 contract that he signed with the Boston Bruins. He sees a $25,000 increase in salary, and will see his highest average annual value since his entry-level contract with the New York Rangers in 2019. Lettieri only got into one game with the Bruins in 2022-23, and was held pointless in that one game. He did play 48 regular season games with the Providence Bruins in the AHL, with 23 goals, 26 assists and 49 points, the most of his AHL career, along with a goal in four playoff games as the Bruins lost in the Atlantic Division Semifinals to the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Lucchini, 28, was an unrestricted free agent after the conclusion of his one-year, $750,000 contract that he signed with the Ottawa Senators. He sees a $25,000 increase in salary, and will see his highest average annual value since his entry-level contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2020. Lucchini made his NHL debut with the Ottawa Senators in 2022-23, scoring one goal in 11 games. He spent most of his season with the Belleville in the AHL, with 19 goals, 34 assists, and 53 points in 61 games played, with the assists and points being career-highs for him in the AHL. He was an undrafted free agent, signing an entry-level contract in 2019 after with the Penguins after four seasons with Michigan Tech, and has also played in the Montreal Canadiens and Senators organizations.
