BREAKING: Minneapolis residents vote against replacing the city's police department with a Department of Public Safety, AP projects.
Last week, Police Chief Medaria Arradondo said that he did not support the ballot amendment and that the election could arguably have the most consequential impact on the future of public safety in Minneapolis.
He delivered his remarks in full uniform while standing in front of a backdrop featuring the department's logo. "But at this point, quite frankly, I would take a drawing on a napkin," he said."And I have not seen either."
