LOWELL, Mass. — Quinton Mincey scored 27 points and Brayden O’Connor added seven in the overtime as second-seeded UMass-Lowell knocked off the seventh seed, UMBC 94-89 on Saturday night in the America East Conference quarterfinals.Mincey also had 16 rebounds for the River Hawks . O’Connor shot 5 for 10 and 5 of 8 from the free-throw line to add 16 points. Cam Morris III had 13 points and finished 5 of 7 from the field.
The Retrievers were led by Marcus Banks, who posted 24 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. UMBC also got 18 points, eight assists and two steals from Dion Brown. Anthony Valentine had 15 points, four assists and two steals. Mincey put up 12 points in the first half for UMass-Lowell, who led 32-31 at halftime. UMass-Lowell was outscored by one point in the second half as the teams ended regulation tied 76-76. O’Connor scored their seven the overtime points while shooting 1 of 1 from the field and 5 for 8 from the line.
