Miles de simpatizantes del principal partido político-religioso de Pakistán protestaron el domingo en la capital, Islamabad, contra los bombardeos israelíes sobre los palestinos de Gaza, lanzando consignas antiestadounidenses y acusando a Estados Unidos de “respaldar al agresor”.
El partido de ultraderecha Jamaat-e-Islami había anunciado una marcha desde el famoso cruce de Abpara, en Islamabad, hasta la embajada estadounidense, en el enclave diplomático de alta seguridad. Sin embargo, la severa actuación de las autoridades la noche anterior obligó al partido religioso a modificar su programa y celebrar el mitin en una calle principal, muy lejos de la zona protegida.
Llevaban pancartas y carteles con lemas contra Israel y Estados Unidos y en apoyo de los palestinos. “No basta con enviar medicinas y artículos de ayuda, ni es el único deber del mundo, en particular de los gobernantes musulmanes, sino que detener la mano del agresor es la verdadera tarea del mundo”, declaró Siraj ul Haq, exsenador y miembro del partido.
