The juxtaposition of a mile-long line of cars waiting for a food bank next to two luxury hotels ain't great.
The organizers -- made up of lifeguards and other volunteers -- set up shop in a parking lot bordering both hotels, and the line went all the way down the street and likely around the next block or two. As for the location ... it was probably more practical than commentary.
The main street that leads to the beachfront facilities is Collins Ave. -- and it's a long, straight shot for a good while before any major turns or weird corners. The folks there must've felt this would be the easiest way to get people in and out without causing too much of a traffic jam or taking up too many neighboring streets.Still, whether they were trying to send a message or not ...
Hotels are hurting right now too -- and something tells us these two 4-star and 5-star hotels don't have their usual clientele filling their suites at the moment. Strange times, indeed.
