Mikus sets rookie record with six goals in win over Kenora

Thunder Bay North Stars freshman Easton Mikus set a new rookie record on Saturday night, scoring six times to help the Stars into the win column for the first time this season, downing the expansion Kenora Islanders 11-4.

Colin Wise was the first to hit the milestone -- last reached in the National Hockey League in 1976 by Toronto's Darryl Sittler -- turning the trick on Feb. 10, 2009 in Schreiber's 13-2 win over the Sioux Lookout Flyers. Connor O'Brien, Eric Sheriff, Dimitri Trahiotis, Drew Caddo and Nolan Desjardins also scored for Thunder Bay. Mikus tallied four times in the first and added singles in the second and third. Linemate E.J. Paddington had five assists on the night.The two teams meet again on Sunday afternoon at the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre.
