Iran, Mike Waltz, Donald Trump

U.S. Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz stated that President Trump will keep all military options open regarding Iran, including potential strikes after the midterm elections, despite reports that he rejected a conditional proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Waltz emphasized the necessity of ensuring global safety from Iran's nuclear threats and dispersed enriched uranium, dismissing political motivations and affirming the goal of eliminating Iran's capacity for weapons-grade enrichment.

Independent journalism is facing unprecedented pressure. As newsrooms shrink, accountability disappears with them. Your membership keeps fearless, reader-funded reporting alive. Mike Waltz, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said President Donald Trump “will leave all options on the table” when asked if the president is preparing to resume military strikes against Iran after the midterms.report that Trump rejected Iran’s conditional proposal for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and told his aides he anticipates resuming bombing Iran after the November elections.

“Is that true? Can you confirm that? ” Welker asked Waltz about the potential resumed attacks. Waltz responded, “Well, that’s anonymous reporting.

What I can tell you is the president will leave all options on the table to ensure the world is safe from Iran holding the world hostage with a nuclear weapon, number one. And number two, he was quite clear in his speech before the U.N. that politics have nothing to do with this.

” Waltz then told Welker, “This is about keeping the next generation safe from Iran threatening the world with a nuclear weapon or building such a mountain, a conventional shield of drones and missiles that they can achieve breakout in these underground facilities behind that shield. ”the Strait of Hormuz and reopen talks on its nuclear program if the United States lifted its naval blockade of Iranian ports and waived sanctions on Iranian oil sales, among other conditions.

Welker went on to question what is left to accomplish in this war after noting the president has said multiple times that Iran’s nuclear potential has been destroyed.

“Well, we know that we obliterated their ability to enrich in a number of these facilities,” he replied. “But we also know they moved and dispersed highly enriched uranium. Again, Kristen, there is no reason. No country on Earth with a peaceful civilian program has a need to enrich to weapons-grade or just short of weapons-grade. ”
