Former Coppell head coach Mike DeWitt was approved Thursday as head football coach/campus athletic coordinator at New Caney High.When interviewing with New Caney ISD for the head football coach/campus athletic coordinator job at New Caney High, everything seemed to fall into place for Mike DeWitt.The feeling was mutual. On Thursday evening, DeWitt was approved by the New Caney ISD board as the Eagles’ new leader.
“I had a great experience at Coppell,” DeWitt said. “I learned a ton. I think the thing I took away is not only do you need to be extremely organized, but you really need to think ahead and dot your I’s and cross your T’s, in a good way. Being able to learn that as a head coach is going to be extremely valuable as I continue my career.”
“This will be new. But it’s a small world,” DeWitt said. “I’m really surprised at the number of people that I’ve got connections with that are down here this way.”
