Starting Tuesday, Oct. 10, the emergency department is scheduled to be open from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on all weekdays leading up to Tuesday, Oct. 31. During a public information session in Middleton on Oct. 4, Nova Scotia Health said 68 per cent of patients at the emergency department have medical issues that could be treated in a different or more appropriate health-care setting.
Residents needing non-emergency care can attend a provincial mobile primary care clinic during two visits to the hospital's primary care clinic from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8 and Oct. 22.Virtual urgent care service is available weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to noon by calling 1-833-413-0277.More information and updates on temporary closuresThe Soldiers Memorial Hospital emergency department will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
