'Believe it. Minnesota is in play for Republicans.'
Tafoya, it seems, is using that to her advantage, appearing to prefer that the race not become a nationwide spectacle with big-name endorsements, flashing lights, and agenda-driven reporters from legacy media outlets trying to play cheerleaders for Democrats and run the gotcha games they typically run with Republican candidates.
In doing so, she’s been able to keep her focus squarely on Flanagan, who has been running with the baggage of the myriad fraud scandals on her back that she keeps trying to lay solely at the feet of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz . But Tafoya has been relentless, hammering Flanagan over the fraud in interviews, public appearances, campaign ads, and social media posts like these:That friend runs the Milestone Development Center.
She was second in command of an administration that ignored warning signs, failed to protect taxpayer dollars, and allowed massive fraud to flourish on its watch. Tafoya has kept it simple, with her message being: Look all around you, Minnesota voters. Has one-party rule in your state served you well? It’s not about red versus blue, she tells voters as she waves the independent candidate banner.

This woman previously wore the shirt “protect trans kids” that featured a knife as a threat. Industrial-scale welfare fraud isn’t the only issue boosting Tafoya’s chances. In a small gathering recently in Manhattan, she noted that fewer than half of the kids in Minnesota can read or do math at grade level — a charge. State education officials blamed disruptive deportations of illegal immigrants by the Trump administration for the weak test results, but that won’t hold up.
Passing the buck is convenient politically, but it doesn’t explain why the state’s children performed almost as poorly the year before. We know that billions and billions of dollars left this state under her watch, along with Tim Walz. She’s tried to push the responsibility to the governor. I’m sorry, she was the lieutenant governor, while all of that happened, and while test scores plummeted, and while crime skyrocketed, and while taxes went up.
So people here in Minnesota are hurting; they’re looking at their pocketbooks, and they’re looking at their paystubs, and they’re saying, “I’m paying all these taxes to be here in Minnesota. And my governor and lieutenant governor and AG couldn’t keep that money in the state for people who needed it didn’t get it? ” They let it walk, and Peggy Flanagan is asking for a promotion to the Senate?
At least Tim Walz had the sense to get out of his race. Many wondering why Michele Tafoya has a realistic chance of beating the Dem Lt Gov in the race for a US Senate seat in a blue state. Her clear, no-nonsense answer to that question says it all. 👇
