Michael Jordan has toppled Kanye West as the sneaker resale market’s champion.
A pair of signed Air Jordan XIII sneakers, worn by Mr. Jordan during the 1998 NBA finals, sold at Sotheby’s for a record-breaking $2.2 million including fees on Tuesday—the new public sales record price for any pair of sneakers. The previous record-holder was a Nike Air Yeezy 1 prototype model, which sold at private sale in 2021 for $1.8 million.
